Yest I took out the springs on the Dizzy and put it back.. after that the car starter to pick up Revs slow.. it drives better (for the short period that I drove it) it leans right out at around 3,500 RPM.. but I wll rejet..

Is this normal?? or do I have a Vaccum leak..

Okay let me ask this differently..
When I have the springs on the Dizzy hooked up the car was acting normal.. Normal reving..
when I took off the springs it revs slow....

could it be that the weights are not opening up all the way?

and my timing gets all screwy?

should I just Braze the weights in the closed position and forget about it?

foam filled float.. never gonna get it to work right the weight of the float is off and the float level will never be right= not able to tune it.. you need a solid float in order to properly tune it..
its revving slow ecause its pig rick most likely..
to be sure nothing is wrong with the dizzy try a stock unit , but dont drive it just see how she revs .. but it sounds like your timing is ok

remove springs. LOCK dizzy, then set timming to 10*btdc then take as mich split out as you can. it should be right around 8* of split if you don't mod the dizzy. then drive it and be happy. this is why i tell everyone to lock the dizzy. you don't know what the weights are doing in there while the car is running.

Well I locked the Dizzy and what a differance.. When I set the timing it stayed not like before
"you don't know what the weights are doing in there while the car is running. "
I agree and good advice

I'm running Lean at Idle, but when I pump the pedal a few times it goes to 14 - 15 and then when I hold it stedy it goes back to Lean 17 +

I'm still clueless when it comes to "locking" the dizzy..... I know I sound stupid but I can't get it. I've heard of it done a couple different ways now.

Its really easy.. this is the first time I ever opened a Dizzy.. just make sure when taking off the vacuum advance not to loose that little clip that holds the rod in.. LIKE ME

There are two weights at the bottom of the dizzy.. at first I just took off the spings. but that caused it to change timing as it sees fit.. so I Brazzed the weights in place.. I heared of people using wire to keep them together..

I was thinking.. how about getting a stiffer set of springs.. instead of brazzing it? anyone tried this before??

If your running a turbo or NOS setup you defenitely want to lock the dizzy by welding the weights. By doing this there is no advance. You set the timing at idle and that's were the timing stays permenantly throughout the entire rpm band. This is done to make sure you don't advance the timing too much and pre detonate.

Your problem you are having at idle and just off idle has nothing to do with the weights. If your timing is set at 10 degrees BTDC and your idle is lean then you have a carb/tune problem.

Is your carb turbo prepped?
What size idle jets are you using?
How does the car run in the mid to upper Rpm's?
I would also chuck the stock fuel pump and buy a good fuel pump and regulator.

I would recommend taking your car to someone who knows about Carb/turbo setups like Robert at Rotary Shack.

The carb it turbo prepped.. Idle jets are 75.

I was screwing around with the Float and I got a better numbers.. I got the PDF. on setting the flat on a webber and I will set it to spec today.. but its getting better..
I think that someone before me was tinkering with the float..

It runs okay in the upper RPM.. I get 14.8 - 15.2...

I wish I could take my car to Robert but its quite a drive..
