Weatherstrip replacement clips.

I recently replaced my door weatherstripping with some good used ones that I got off of a parts car.

Anyone that has replaced those knows that the existing clips that hold the weatherstrip are destroyed when you remove them. That is why they are already attached to new weatherstripping when you buy them.

Since mine were not new I had to find replacement clips. Found some at the local Auto parts store. According to the bin that they were in they fit 89 on up Lincoln Automobile door weatherstripping.

So if you happen to be getting your car painted and you are having the door jambs painted or need to remove the stripping for any reason you will be looking for these guys.

I have been using FC door weatherstrips in my FB and RX-3's. it only needs a slight trimming so cut it at the bottom of door. when u find a good rubber at junk FC's, be sure to grab them plastic clips also. be sure to use to grab the right tool at harbor freight.

I'm just waiting for Alzheimer's to kick in for you, Wacky.

And, good looking out, Doc! I need to replace my weather stripping soon here. At least now I won't have fits with finding good replacement clips.

The set I have fit the same as OEM. They are METRO Supersoft weatherstripping and come with the needed clips installed. You can go online and purchase them direct from Metro I believe. I bought mine from 1A Auto, 8 Chapel PL, Pepperbell MA 01463. They sell for $80 shipped and their ph # is 888-820-3393

You're referring to the long piece that wraps all the way around the door?

i have bought all of my door seals from the dealership. they come witht he new clips already in the weatherstripping (part number from mazda is 8871-58-760 and are about $55 each). however, Doc's source is excellent and being that they're sold as a pair, you can't go wrong!

to remove the old weather stripping with the clips in place (provided the weatherstripping hasn't split around the clip), i use a snap on brand "panel popper". it came in a set of three and i find that i uf i use the smalles size i can get behind the ears of the clip and pry it out and keep it in the weather stripping and in tact. here is a pic of the panel popper:
