wax on wax off...
just curious to see who out there prefers what wax. i personally use zymol. i like the shine and the protection seems to be great. what do you guys prefer?
I like maguires cleaner wax, works great to restore paint not much of a protector though.
The only car I have worth waxing now isn't running.
zymol's too much for me to even try.

Zaino!
Gawd help you if you get Zymol on your black trim, that **** is next to impossible to get off. Zaino on the other hand is real friendly to black trim, it's easy to apply and it lasts a looong time.

Zaino.....
How hard is it to apply and remove inittab?
Personally I have always used Finish 2001 and the car looks shiny enough.
Of course that is a synthetic polish. What's the difference between wax and the polish??

I've been happy with Mother's 3 step system with the paste wax for the last step. I've also used McGuire's Mirror glaze multi-step with good looking results. One step waxes work OK, but I really think you can tell the difference with the separate cleaner/polish/wax steps.
Mirror Glaze and Mothers both also make great rubber treatment products that don't leave the rubber greasy.

I use Nufinish. Its not a wax, but a polish (sp?). I have used it on my Buick once, the water still beaded about 6 months later. It also left a nice shine (nice for a blue car anyway). I tryed a little on me rex and the white oxidation was gone. This is on a black car. I would trust this stuff for years to come. It works great.
I haven't tried Zymol, but I hear nothing but praise for it.
I've won "best paint" trophies with my Courier using Meguiar's #7 though.
It doesn't provide any real protection, but makes the paint really shine, especially lacquer.
Those products like "NuFinish" are actually pretty good, they clean pretty aggressively and shine well, their downside is that they use a silicone coating that must be removed before any repainting or you will get fisheyes like mad.
I've been using the Meguiars cleaner/wax on my Fiesta, and I haven't noticed any lack of protection, in fact it has held up pretty well even after the car got a coating of solid ice earlier this year.

zymol is the devil to get off of black trim, especially porus black trim! i may have to check out zaino. i have never heard of it or seen it for sale in a store.
The only place I know to get Zaino is from their website. http://www.zainobros.com I've done the 7 step proceess and the shine is nothing less than amazing.

I have an award winning 1954 Nash Metropolitan in an odd but sexy teal color, and my RX in Viper Yellow. I swear by ZYmol. Its the best shine and ive tried them all, even Zaino. Unless your careless and like to try and wax black trim its no problem.
I have owned my 79 for 25 years, and tried a lot of products over the years. Colliers paste wax gave a great shine, but leave it on too long and it was almost impossible to get off. Zaino Bros products make the original silver paint look better than it did new. Very high gloss, glass smooth, deep shine. Zaino involves numerous steps, but all the products are easy to use and the end result is worth it. PS : I did clay the car before appliciation of Z2 and Z5. Don't leave that step out.
