i noticed that there are some wires that have been cut off of the back of my water pump. the car runs seems to run pretty well and dosent overheat but id like to know if i should fix this or if its even important?

sounds like a thermo sensor. would be better to connected it unless the previous owner did it for a reason.

 

i usually keep a close eye on all my gauges and its never gone much past the halfway mark, but i was afraid that it might have been supposed to let me know some **** that i might not have know was going on. knowhatimean?

 

It is not really needed, and has no use if you replace the carb. I seem to remember that it is for the choke. Tells it when the car is warm and the choke can let off.

 

I'm not sure if it affects any emissions components or not, it does control the choke. I'm running a Mikuni carb, with the thermo sensor and the choke works fine. When I first put the motor in the old sensor wires were broken off and I had to hold the choke out during warmup, now it works like factory.
