water pump leak

Well I was filling back up my radiator today , as I'm getting ready to start my 13b on wednsday and coolant started leaking around where the alternator bracket (slide adjustment thing) connects to the water pump.

After examining it I found out that 2 months ago when I put the alternator on, I never tightened the nut for the bracket.

So I went to tighten it and I went too far, and heard a "pop". I had overtorqued the nut and after getting the nut off all the threads had been ripped out of the nut and it was COMPLETELY smooth inside. Pretty amazing.

Anyway the stud wasn't damaged very much, so I was able to get a new nut on there, BUT because of this leak, am I going to have to replace the water pump housing gasket? Or is it still good?

Better to be safe than sorry. Even a small leak can turn into a big one later down the road. I'd change it if I were you.
