Water pump
are the water pumps on the 83.5 and 84 12A interchangeable? A simple question. Also will form-a-gasket or would i need a real gasket for this application.

For a water pump you can check with your local Napa or other auto parts store. Unless the price is a big difference between rock auto (Factor in cost of Shipping) and your local auto parts store. If Napa does not have it in stock they can usually get it overnight.

Well I didn't go with Rock Auto this time. I spent a little extra sence it is a 3 day weekend and called up Orielly's. Called this morning and they had it by noon. Also i didn't go reman. I have a life time warranty on it so It is all good.
thx for the advice, just after thinking about it and the 3 day weekend I had to do something. I hope that my diag was correct. If so no more heat ups while sitting idle.

swab a bit of axle grease on each side of the gasket before you install and it will be a snap to remove next time you change it, plus the grease helps seal it up nicely - and REMEMBER!!: the bolts are only torqued to about 17 Ft/Lbs!!!!!!!!!! Do NOT overtighten!
Great time to replace belts and all hoses too!! (grease trick applies to inside of hose ends for easy removal in future)

Check the operation of the fan clutch. Make sure there is resistance on the fan when you turn it after the engine gets to operating temp.
Since you are into the cooling system. Replace the t-stat,radiator cap, and inspect your belts and hoses. Of course replace the coolant/anti freeze.

Well I replaced the Water pump and I thought it helped. I'm still boiling over. I'm gettting ready to replace the T-stat again. I think that Ray is going to hook me up with a rad.
I have to keep telling my self that it could be clogged because of block sealer and this is a problem I created. I'm not sure if that is true or not but never had any issues until it over heated from the blow water hose.
Well I need to get to I will try and keep this thread up dated with my progress on fixing the boiling over issue.
Doc: The Fan does bother me a little. It has resistance at cool temps and at opperating temps. I don't have any trouble when at hwy speeds. It is only after traveling hwy speeds and then getting caught in traffic or surface street roads.
Also anyone know how big the holes are in the bee-hive? I'm not sure if the water channels could have gotten clogged, as well as the ones for the heater-core.
