Warm up weirdness

Today is the second time it happened. I start the car on a pretty warm morning, choke is out, idling ~1800 rpm, then after a minute, not more than two the choke **** snaps back, however the temp gauge is till a little below C.

The car doesn't die, but now it's idling at around 1100, when it's usually below the 1k mark, it has done this once and I was able to blip the pedal and it goes down, so I assumed a littl vac leak or the throttle sticking. This time, the idle would not go back down. After work this afternoon everything worked fine.

Are the two related? And what's causing the car to warm up so fast? If it's a faulty temp sensor, shouldn't the engine die when the choke goes back in?

What year is it?
The 78-79 have less emissions then the 80-85 so there are different vacume issues.
