Want to remove trim
I want to start refub of my '81 this winter and would like to remove all the (used to be) black trim around the windshield and on the roof sills.
Anyone have any tips on removing these pieces without damaging them?
Thanks

Blackdragon sells a nylon tool that is used to pop these off :$10
- some thoughts:
- as brandon sez, you WILL break most of the retaining clips. Replacements are called a "Clip Kit" - can be bought from auto glass shop: $25-20 NOTE there is a diff kit for diff models yrs!
-note that there are little rubber "dams" (the Parts Book calls them), basically support pieces that sit behind some of the joints. THESE ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE so don't lose 'em and NOTE WHERE THEY GO! Unique to each position.
-drain rails: Bee-otch to remove without damaging - like all these bits: stupidly expensive to buy new.
-parts are stainless steel and a fine grit sanding will get the paint off OR soda blasters many engine machine shops use will gently pull the paint w/o damaging metal
-haven't found a paint yet that will beat a nice powder coat finish, but its pricy - Pcoat shops do stuff in job lots so volume = cheaper per part, so bringing in all your bracketry, etc at the same time for The Treatment will stretch your dollar...
My recommendation is get friendly with a glass shop and get them to pop these for you, since they do it every day-
