Wankel inboard engine on eBay!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MakeTrack=true

If I had a boat I'd get it. If I had a place to put a boat I'd get a boat. A rotary collector oughta give this motor a good home.

I may back into this at the end of the auction, just on general principles.

"Variable Pitch???"

Someone here is being very imaginative. The photos clearly shows a one-piece cast bronze prop on a solid shaft. Nobody would waste their time developing "variable pitch" on such a low power application.

I wonder how it would do in a Ski-Doo? Could be a blast.

One piece??

I don't think so.

I'm not sure why it would be variable pitch but is sure looks like the blades can rotate on the hub to me. This is very cool actually. Essentially allows you to "shift gears" as you get up to speed.

10 hp = nothing in a sea doo. Of course if you retain the prop drive you do get a much more efficient drive system than the standard jet propulsion. Though even the lowest output sea doo engines are 55 hp. Currently you can get one with 215 hp output.

It would be difficult at best to convert one to a prop drive. If I were going to use this as a project it would probably be a home built little plywood boat. That could actually very cool. Not fast but fun and interesting.

Missed the 10 hp figure. That just makes it a noisy trolling motor.

"2 cycle" has me concerned. Granted, it may take premixed oil, but it's far from a 2 cycle. It does have a lack of an oil pan though, which makes me wonder how long this thing would actually last.

It's a 1967 NSU rotary. It's lasted long enough.

I'm surprised at it's longevity. I thought NSU's seals sucked hardcore.

It has next to no useage.

Read the whole listing. It has been sitting in some guys shop for several years and wasn't used prior to that either.
