Does anyone know if these are very good. My car is in the shop waiting to get a new stock pipe and muffler. The guy told me that he is getting a Walker muffler and pipe from NAPA in Ohio. Will these hold up to the extreme heat from a rotary? I asked him and he sounded like he didnt know. but of course he told me yea it will be ok. Then I asked if it was a baffled muffler, he said yea. I said that it might not last that long then. He didnt say anything for a minute. Then said he would find out. Let me know guys!

 

My answer would be no, they probably wouldn't last long a few months at the most. I would get the muffler from Racing Beat. They are solid and take the heat very well.

 

Thats what I thought. Try telling my mechanic that. Im being charged 600 bucks to have the exhaust work done, that includes parts. Im going to tell him tomorrow that he should have got RB stuff. I tried telling him before, but he wouldnt listen. Instead he ended up paying about the same price for a muffler thats going to be fucked in a couple of monnths. GREAT

The muffler is ok just louder, i believe they are engineered correctly. Call Napa and get the tech # for walker and talk to them. But for $600.00 you can get the complete Rb header system. Which will definetly put a smile on your face when it comes to throttle response. rx7doctor

 

Where can I get the racing beat stuf for 600? All im getting done is the pipe from the cats to the muffler, and of course the muffler. They are all coming from Walker.

 

so cool, when they blow up and fall apart in a couple weeks you can say i toldya so and get your money back. Then get an RB system.

 

I wish I had tools, I would jsut do it myself.

 

Hell it only takes a 14mm socket for the exhaust manifold, most of the other ones are 15mm or 16mm. $30.00 more than gets you enough tools to do this job,lol.

im 17 and I installed my full racing beat exhaust, it just takes some patience and some help from someone for a couple parts (attaching the muffler, someone to hold the muffler while you bolt it in) (someone to help you align the header into the side engine mounts...) Anyways it was fun worthwhile and looks awesome cant wait till i get the car running right!

I should mention most the racingbeat parts are more expensive but are DEFFINATLY worth the extra money, racing beat puts alot of time and effort into producing these parts, keep supporting them!

Thats how you learn and it is fun and rewarding when you are done. Anyone can pay someone to do all the work but getting involved in it is much better. This gives you technical skills. Never be afraid to try something, but remember to plan and do research first, it will save you from alot of headaches. Hell i wish there was a forum when i worked on my first rotary in . well long before you guys were born and it was not a rx7 either. rx7doctor

Walker is definetivly still around. They are one of the largest aftermarket suppliers of mufflers in Europe, and actually makes a lot of OEM parts for Mazda. Not the RX of course..

Making your own exhaust isnt that hard either. You will require some welding, but the simplicity of the setup (almost straight from header to rear muffler) makes it easy. If i remember correctly, we did mine in less than a couple of hours. Stainless of course, and free flow mufflers from Ferrita, with a lifetime warranty.
