Looks great and I have the same brown interior as you I would keep the black boot but do the thread in black. as for the little boot pegs I took a pin vise with a small bit and mounted some really small screws in the plastic and used a two part epoxy to really make sure they never come out. stonger than stock and has held up really well. the heads of the screws keep the rubber up close to the opening like it should be.

Yeah.. More info on those screws... My boot is jacked and I don't want to buy a new part if the pegs are just going to fall off again. Wait, let me look at my part, it may just be worth replacing anyways, but I'll still just break the pegs to save time and fix it proper! So more info please!

Anyhoos, I prefer the boot my wife stitched up for the '80 that I recently lost... We're talking minimal cost here with inhouse sweatshop labor and she's not even a chiquita (to my Mom's chagrin...)...

I see a perfect dash with all the screws... Wood behind the panel(I think) AND a little red light by the cigarette lighter... What is that? An alarm???

Oh I also think one of those black boots would look awesome in my80.. I need one anyways... but thats a lil' later on...

My interior is currently black... with marroon carpet, headliner, door panels, and brown seat(with black seat covers) I want the headliner and door panels black.... then it would be PERFECT!!! My gauge surroundings, and radio/shifter surroundings will be silver, so the white stitching would look just about perfect

Old man=old school.... The metal ears that are behind the plastic fascia have to be dremel'd back enough to let the DIN chassis just slip through. You end up with about 5 MM of the screw actually being cut off, so you have to go back and forth between the two ears since you are actually still going to use them to secure the brackets. I bought a new plastic front piece and measured off the cut and then dremel'd that, too, but extremely slowly for a perfect fit. You can always cut off more, but you can't cut it back on...wasn't really hard, just tedious and slow...the "wood" in the hole is just the rusted metal panel in back....I re-arranged the switches and was modifying the "antenna up/down" switch to be used for an amp/CD player motorized rack for the spare tire well. An SA car has a deep one that is perfect. This '84 is too damn shallow, so that's just another reason to find another '79 or '80 for my 130 horse streetport....
