Vin number locations on an SA?

I've got matching Vin numbers on my dash and engine bay, but nothing on the doors/jams? Is this normal on an SA? Or did they have vins on the door/door-jam as well?

Going in for out of state insp here and I just want some to know in case they give me crap about it.

Thanks!

there is a stamp on the firewall, tag on the firewall, sticker or tag (early SA's have a riveted in tag, everything else is a sticker) in the drivers door jamb, and the tag on the dash.

if at some point it had a quarter panel, or maybe a full repaint the door jamb might be gone, however there are still 3 other vins to look at, which should be enough

if for some reason they are super lame, i actually have a new door jamb sticker, i could scan it, and you'd have to fill it out and print it as a sticker.

Appreciate the offer may take you up on that. I have the stamped engine bay number, but no rivited on plate on teh firewall and the plate on the dash. No door numbers though.

I'll give it a go first. Was hoping what I had is all they came with in case they asked. Ah well... They failed me today for not haveing an odometer in the car. Told me it doesn't even have to work, just has to be there. I'm gonna velcro one in and go back next thursay

Of all the legit reasons to fail this car... They picked the odometer! Guess I should count myself lucky if thats all they call me out on.

Nope they sure aren't. I did bolt on a set of DOT drag radials to drive out there though.

Apparently so... She wasn't even interested in checking out the lights and signals I worked so hard on. I was kinda upset. From what I saw they check the 3 vins and the odometer... Then they run the vin numbers by the highway patrol stolen car data base. Thats it. Oh, and charge you $20.

I found this about Kansas vehicle inspections:

"All inspections are conducted by the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP). Unlike many other states, these inspections do not examine for safety or smog-producing emissions. Instead the KHP focuses on finding and confirming a car's vehicle identification number (VIN), for the intent of discouraging auto theft and the illegal trafficking of auto parts.

Upon completing, the KHP will hand you an MVE-1 form. This will serve as your proof of inspection when applying for vehicle registration with the DOR. Inspections are one time only. You will not need another one for registration renewal. "

Does Kansas require an inspection for vehicle registration? - DMV Answers

I can say that most states do require wipers.

California abandoned the safety inspection years back. They jump you through hoops on the smog inspection, but do nothing about safety at all - - you wouldn't believe the number of vehicles with no operating brake lights, or one headlight, or missing body panels, or no bumpers, that I see running around in any given week.

Shows where our hippy-packed government's priorities are.
