You mean the charcoal canister? Removing it won't improve anything, well except looking simpler and cleaner(which I like).
I changed mine out for an FC one, all black plastic.
Some have gotten rid of it and let the gas tank vent to the air, like old cars use to. I think they had vented gas caps back then.

Yeah, I am looking too get rid of it. I don't think it helps vent the crankcase worth a crap. Otherwise I could care less about the tank vent, I'm afraid of removing the vent line for the fuel tank though because it could build pressure and drip fuel out.

not sure about the right way to do it, but im mounting mine back by the tank. i was just going to mount it there, run the vent like from the tank to it, then leave the other line on the canister open. should look clean and have no gas fumes. but we'll see if it works or not.

in the stock emissions setup there are TWO nipples. the charcoal canister takes the vapors from the gas tank and crank case and holds them.

the OTHER line goes from the oil filler neck into the intake so the vapors get burned.

on mine i have the canister hooked up to the tank, but it doesn't go to the engine. venting the tank is fine, except your car will smell like raw gas, always

Problem Solved

Welded a second fill tube to the original. Then drilled and tapped a Street 1/4 NPT fitting and 3/8's barb into the top of the passenger side filler.
Then painted her up of course. I then left the original CC plumbing original, that is the original oil fill tube nipple runs to the CC, and the fuel tank vent line also goes to the other side of the CC.

thats an awful lot of work to improve crank case venting.. and it looks awful odd and out of place, especially with two oil caps...... my opinion is just to leave the stock unit and plumbing in place so you don't smell raw gas and so the system will work as intended. the charcoal canister is small and out of the way to begin wih and can easially be removed should you need i out of the way to work on anything on the right side of the engine bay. removing the charcoal canister or attempting to improve a decent design could possibly constantly make you think you are leaking fuel from somewhere.. a very nerve racking thought...esecially if you were leaking fuel and thought the vapors were fro a modified setup..
