Upgraded fuel line people - What about pick up filter/sock?

Do you just modify (drill out) the OEM fuel sock or do you buy a different one? Where do you buy one if you replaced stock one? Im planning on going from stock ~5/16 to 3/8 or maybe just going crazy and going to 1/2 just to make sure I have enough.

Possibly dumb question - if I upgrade to 1/2 supply would I need to upgrade to larger size return? I like to at least have a good understanding of what I am doing so A) I dont have to do it again and B) less "surprises".

I think 1/2" would be unneeded unless your running a huge pump trying to turn out 600+ hp. I've seen 400+ hp V8's use 3/8" line without a problem. A half inch line should be capable of flowing in excess of 10gpm, that's 240gph.

I personally would braze a new pickup tube in place of your original 5/16" pickup and pick up a sock from a vehicle that would have come with the proper size. Any of the old big V8 powered cars probably ran 3/8" line stock, so you should be able to find something.

Sweet, thanks man. Another positive about 3/8 instead of 1/2 is its cheaper and that is sometimes better lol.

I've only dealt with a few engines that needed a 1/2" line, and they were well over 500RWHP V8's running Alcohol or race gas which needs more volume than gasoline.

3/8" line is MORE than enough for any street car with a proper pump.

I am planning on running a single pump to run my Nikki and also run "The NAWS". No more than 100 shot, honestly probably stay around the 75 area. I just want to make sure I have enough volume to handle everything.

My plan is this: Main supply comes into a "tee" where I have 2 separate FPRs, 1 set to ~3 and other set at 7. When the nitrous system is engaged, the Nikki will see a 7 psi at whatever orifice jet "bleed off" so I am wanting to make sure I have enough flow to keep the Nikki filled. Either that or buy different fuel jets (for nitrous system) to run at ~3 psi also and place the "tee" after the single FPR. Either way I know (75%) I will need more volume than the stock lines can deliver.

You'd be suprised. Unless you're running some ungodly ported motor with a modded nikki. The problem is see is that the fuel pump pulses instead of delivers a constant pressure.

If you have 2 regulators split from the tee.... you're not going to see 7psi at all. The 3 psi regulator will let all that extra pressure that would create 7psi.... bleed down the return side.

the SE has a 1/2" pickup stock. I picked up a 1/2" inline filter from NAPA since my pickup screen was gone, it worked great.

on my one 12A SP car, I did 3/8" the whole way back. I left the 5/16 pickup in the tank since it was too much trouble for me.

i made a sump for my tank and welded it on with 3/8 feed and return. Havn't used it yet. But for the stock lines on top i cut them off and welded them shut.

This is what I have been told by others as well as far as the 2 regulators (have done more research). My engine is RB secondaries for primaries and Ito secondaries for secondaries lol. My Nikki carb is also modded. Its a one of a kind Sterling that was created against his wishes for another member who is no longer here. Basically its a Yaw/Sterling hybrid thing. Other than my low rpm stumble that I cant get rid of it runs like a beast.
