Upgaded Alternator in my 80

I installed a S4 alternator in my 80. How do I bypass the external regulator? Do I just run the output wire to my battery instead of the regulator?

If you have a 1980, the original Voltage Reg should be built IN to the alternator. Only the 79s had external. At least, the N. American spec cars did

similar question. um an s5 alternator into a 79 gs. the link doesn't have anything on 79, only 80+. how would i do this swap, since the regulator is external.
