updates on the '85 GS of doom

k well...i havent posted any updates in a while so i figure no time better than the present...

1. took transmission out *WOOHOO*.... the gearbox is in tact, inputshaft is OK, going to degrease the bellhousing and call the tranny -done- (for now anyway.)
2. forgot where a bunch of my parts go *arg*
i made the fatal mistake of not taking pictures of the way i disassymbled things so now i get to have fun putting everything back together.
3. lost 2 rubber vacuum elbows that go on the OMP lines for the carb (i dunno where they went)
4. started bondo/priming process...found that i have MAJOR rust in a few places.... the back quarter windows have rust deposits in the crack below them.... arg..fun !
5. continued polishing the intake manifold (limited by money, cant buy all the sandpaper / dremel stuff that i need) ....its nearing a place i can stop and cover all the holes and spraypaint it with high heat paint (its in too bad of condition to polish it, has too many tiny places to get too, and would be too much work for cosmetic gain that no one can see but me the one under the hood)....so black high temp spraypaint it is....

6. the fender is STILL off and i still havent gotten all the money together to buy a new one yet.... i feel bad for starting the exterior stuff before the engine is done, but the rust was taking over and had to be stopped...

7. im wondering which carb rebuild kit to get..should i go to advance auto parts and get the one from them for $30.00 , the one from victoria british for $20.00 or from mazdatrix for like $70-80.00
wondering if anyone has experience with any of these particular kits and what the results were....

I think its some kind of capacitor for the oil pressure gauge. I always lose those or break them.

I used a cheap ($30) rebuild kit from....can't remember. Anyway, the carb base gaskets were there, and the accelerator pump diaphragm, but the diaphragm for the secondary wasn't included. Not a big deal if you plan on modifying the carb for mechanical secondaries.

the one from mazda trix is nice but i would use the cheap kit unless you have a bunch of carb issues i mean mine came with even new floats and all new springs and everything yeah it is nice but probally not worth it. If you need one of those sensors get me an addy i have a few around here.
