Talking My New Paper Weight

Well, I have a whole 12A engine laying around in my garage disassembled, and i finally got around to polishing (or cleaning, whatever) one of the rotors for show. So, here are the results of myself, and drivefast_flylow's efforts. Most of it was done by me .

Pretty and shiny

Heres why it was turned to "display only" status...

We've got a piston measuring 8" across that has a hole blown through the side, but it's too heavy for a paper weight.

I got one of dem der rotars as a clock display on my entertainment center. Also got a housing so it looks "complete". Excellent conversation piece for those non rotary-educated people

You should be able to get a remanufactured drive out of them. Check their website for an RMA form.

THats why you buy Seagate Barracuda's. Those things are sweet, and damn near silent. Did you know that Western Digital drives are just refurbished Maxtors? or was it the other way around?

Anyways. Man i really want a rotor for a door stop!!! But i dont have one

I also wanna make a 1 rotor miniature RC engine for an API gas powered car. I think that would be so cool! The thing could probably produce a few horsepower, more then their 1cylander engines....

Peace, Geoff

How can this be? I live near a Maxtor and a Seagate production center, and they both produce brand new drives.

Oh yeah, I went on a tour of both companies looking for work and I saw the production process.

I was joking about the $50, lol. Im not selling it, so I said a high price . Im gonna clean the other one up soon to, then Im gonna take the e-shaft and out them on and tack weld them and make a nice mantle piece, or something, lol. I may just throw them in a box too, lol. I wanna check out the other rotor, cause if its ok, then Ill keep it for when I build my next engine. Anyone have a good suggestion on how to clean rotors? I used a fine grit sand paper with my hands on this one, and it worked really well, but I knew this one was bad. I dont wanna mess up the other one if its not ok to sand them to get the carbon off, and shine them up .
