Update: Slowly but surely!
So I'm slowly pulling everything off of my old motor. I'm painting certain things I'm gonna keep. Engine bay will be silver.
Here is the pile of all of the parts pulled off so far and the radiator mount top cover painted silver.
Here is the motor all stripped down and ready to pull out.
Here are some things I've crappily painted silver.

Take the plunge and unbolt as much stuff as you can off the inner fenders and firewall, then go at it with Simple Green (hint: old tooth brush works great in the crannies!), follow up with a serious paint polish. Some elbow grease and you will be A-M-A-Z-E-D at what that paint will come out looking like! Wax it all before re-attaching hardware - will be a snap to keep clean with regular touch-ups of soap and water.
I spent 4 _days_ detailing mine. Some goofball actually tried to spray paint the rad black while it was IN the car!! ($#%). That is the ORIGINAL red paint. All the black parts were removed, sandblasted and powdercoated. I used new Stainless Steel hardware to bolt it all in with...

Nice. Thanks for the tips!
I was just hoping to clean up the all ready seemingly nice white paint and maybe take a can of touch up paint to some of the other parts. The random things like brackets and metal covers and so on that come out will be coated in silver ceramic engine paint after being cleaned with foamy and sanded.
FYI: I found half of a dead bird underneath the intake manifold.
How does one take out the inserts on the exhaust manifold to see in their better?
