Update from the depths of Austrailia
Waz up! I haven't posted for a while because of lack of internet here in the boonies. I'm a little dissapointed that i've only seen ONE Rx7 since i got here 3 weeks ago. It was a red 1st gen... but i am in a little town called Moss Vale, and i've only been into Sydney twice. I need those from this side of the earth to tell me where the action is! But, this is a sweet country anyways.

Moss Vale in the depths of Australia! Its a commuter suburb 5 minutes from an expressway into the centre of Sydney. If you want outback, just in New South Wales come on one of my trips to Tibooburra its about a thousand miles inland via Ivanhoe from where you are, and only half is by dirt road.
I suggest you go on the Australian Forum as Sydney is only 30 minutes away were there, with some very good RX-7s. Turn the other way on the Hume Highway and head for the snow if you like skiing. On the way there are quite a few RXs in Canberra but unfortunatrly no club.
How come anyone gets posted to Moss Vale, its hobby farm suburbia with the nearest industry being a small deepshaft mine?

Mschafe- can not understand why you have no internet in Moss Vale, try signing up with someone local like Bigpond and you can pick up email worldwide on a laptop. If there is no landline, you can acesss via your mobile or satellite phone if you go really remote.
Well.. the school i'm at doesn't have phone connections the students to use... but of course there is internet access here.. and its more than 30min.. more like 2 hours driving or 3 by train. Anyways... i'm heading down the Melbourne and then to Cairns in a few weeks, so i'll see whats around there.

You should see if you can stop by a few rotor workshops! Try Maztech in Prestons and RotorWorx in Keilor.
Maztech is run by Anthony Rodrigues who is on these forums and RotorWorx is run by Vlad Berak who gets on a few other forums! Well worth a look!
And I might be at Wakefield Park Raceway which is a bit outside Goublurn on the 25th of this month for a bit of a track day! Should try and drop by!

Directfreak- will post some photos shortly.
The story is that Mazda Australia had a very small batch built to test the market. Due to the extremely high cost of getting them structurally strong enough to have approved by the authorities, and the news the Gen 2 was coming, the project was dropped.
One story is that Mazda did all the conversion work themselves, another was the soft top was made by a subcontractor. Three of the cars went to Singapore for display, and a few more were sold to good clients by major dealers. They came with 14'" Enkei alloys, and a metal 'RX-7 convertible ' badge on the trunk lip. An identical car to mine was sold recently for double the cost of a standard as they have become a collectors' item.
I have the full service history including invoices.
The only changes I made are not visible; header, modifird carb, K&N filter, upgraded swaybars, shocks and bushes etc. It handles perfectly and puts out 124-125rwhp.
The car looks like a stock good looking Gen 1, so it creates great interest.
