up and down idle with a hisss...

k...i know about the idle faq page, I also did some searches...

I haven't read this problem yet but i'm assuming its just a vac leak...but dunno if its norm...

my engine has started idling up and down from below 800rpm to about 800rpm...when it reaches the norm i hear a hisss from somewhere...then it goes away when it goes back down...

i checked the screw on top and if i open it all the way it hisss' all the time...doesn't do anything to the idle issue too...

soon i'll be taking it all the way down to the lower intake manifold and cleaning everything, partly to get the carbon out and partly to try to fix the idle issue...

my question:
do you guys think i have a vac leak somewhere, or is that hissing normal when it goes above norm? is there an easy way to check if there is a vac leak on a 13b? not locate it but just to check it. hmmm...maybe i should replace all the vacuum hoses with new ones...

BTW, thanks to gregs, inittab and most of all iotus for helping me figure out how to loosen up my front secondary port...they both work now......i still wanna clean inside though...

Yes do that! and replace all of the hoses with new ones as well as the gaskets. Use some RTV around the lower manifold to the block.. your car will be happy and so will you
