uneven accelerator pump squirt?

I have a pretty bad stumble when I get on the gas hard from idle. I have no idea how to tune the carb (and Im sure its out of adjustment) but I was remember reading that it could be my accelerator pump. I checked for the squirt in the carb, and I am getting a lot of gas, but it is very uneven. I imagine it is supposed to be a nice, fine mist. Mine has some mist, but its mostly bigger drops. Could this be causing my stumble? How would I fix this?

Edit: its an 82 street port with a stock carb (dont think its ever been rebuilt), carter fuel pump, no FPR, and racing beat header and presilencer

Well, the AP nozzel sits right in between the two primary venturis and squirts a very defined stream of fuel into each of them at 45* angles.

What you describe is the normal visualization of the main circuit feed tubes in the booster venturis.

Since you did not mention the stream, my guess is that you have not seen it. (It's very obvious when it's working.)
If you have no AP shot, then that is your problem.

Please look at the FAQ thread for a link to carb issues regarding this. The same info is available on my "under construction" website.
