Jimmy, the lights will not be seen from the outside. Thats why they look so poorly on many cars, is that you can actually see the lights. Thats exactly what its NOT supposed to look like

By putting the lights up higher where you cannot see the lights, but only the glow, they look much nicer.

 

When ya get'er done, post some pics. You just might get a few people converted!

Yeah see my car is going to be a show car as well as a performance racing car.

I will definately take pics. I also have two 12" neons on the interior, one under each dash half. I had them working briefly before they started popping fuses all over the place, and they looked awesome. Totally adds to the blue theme of the car.

Many people dont realize that you arent supposed to SEE the tubes. THey are supposed to be hidden and out of sight. When people put them out where you can see them, i agree they look terrible. you're supposed to see the glow that they put off.

Thank you for your opinions... I suppose I did ask for opinions in a manner of speaking. I debated on wether to ask politely for no flaming or opinions on this thread, but I thought all of your negative thoughts just might add some fun to this thread.

I knew that many people would object to the use of this unneccessary lighting equipment, you are right in saying that it adds NO power, NO handling....it serves NO purpose but for my own satisfaction of looking at it at night.

You are also correct in saying that the Police are naturally attracted to flashy looking cars, especially ones with underlights. We can only owe our anger and frustration to the makers of the horrible travesty that is Fast and the Furious, and 2Fast, 2Furious. I have seen both, they are two of the most horrible movies of all time. They portray the flashiness, haughtiness, and over all lack of respect for other humans that most ricers and street racers unfortunately have.

It's too bad that a bunch of idiots have changed the way law enforcement views owners of fast cars, but nothing can be done.

I have also unfortunately probably been influenced from some of my friends, one of which absolutely LOVED the Fast and the Furious, has an Eclipse with a Monza fart box, and has vinal stickers on his car. He has an underlighting kit, and I think it loks awsome. So I really don't think there is a need for me to be labeled "ricey", as I hate all that has to do with that.

That would be sweet. As I mentioned, my gsl-se is black, and I think a nice neon green glow underneath would look quite...badass (excuse the ricey coloquialism).

 

To me someone is a ricer if they dont konw what kind of car they drive, i.e. identity crisis.

A honda is not fast, so dont make it look fast. An rx-7 is fast, so do what you want.

 

But dont forget, chrome double blade wipers add roughly 3hp @ the wheels!!

Oh... by the way... My friend with he semi-ricey Eclipse recommended Streetglo, saying "only go with StreetGlo". Anyone here know if that's what it is? I'll look it up on Google I suppose.

 

Street glow is the neon tubes. The rope lights are just like party lights.

I truely think people are intitled to their OWN opinions, and dont see why people need to be so abrasive just cause they dont agree! OK, half of us like 'em, and the other half dont. Cant you just say - "Eh, not for me.." Then state an opinion? Instead of being insulting and making racisist comments about "rice" etc? I really hate that **** attitude, without the RICE as is often refered to would we even have MAZDA? What country does it originate from? And Honda and Suzuki and Kawasaki and Yamaha etc etc. . . (All GREAT Motorcycles!!) god. . . if we all had the same opinion, how fuked up and boring would everything be?

Neon doesn't look bad if done right (IMO) - however, rope lights could and probably would look cheesie as hell - the light would be inconsistant and dull if hidden as they should be - not to mention they are 120 volt and intended for Xmas trees and patios.

Bottom line, I wouldn't do the neon thing anywhere on my car but I have seen a few cars that looked OK (this sounds like a politician's answer)

Look great if the car is modded,

If the car is bone stock, then it looks gay.

A new set is out that is totally digital with a disco floor effect, but it's all LED'S not neon tubes. and about 300 bucks over here. I almost bought the blue set.
