uh oh??? i need help..

today i was getting my 85 GSL-SE ready for the new radiator that i got... being as the car is my first engine rebuild i and i stopped for 1 year and am just getting back to it i wanted to completely clear out the cooling system for the new stuff

well when i took off the water pump and saw a white film covering the cooling ports. well its more then just a film it's kinda thick. did I mess up on the rebuild and need to start all over now? or is this just from the car sitting for a year with a full cooling system. here is 2 pix of the "film" please help

Yes I did. i used mostly regular oil 20-50. worked wonders for holding seals in place. i did use it VERY generously.

Run a Water and Degreaser mix in the cooling system for about 10-15 minutes
Then rinse with fresh water for another 10-15 minutes.
Then replace the fresh water one more time, and run for 10-15 minutes, all should be clear.

Then replace with the appropriate 50/50 distilled water and coolant.

Good Luck!
