Just finished up the headlights. Might try to fit part of the original trim back on, but that is left for another day.

Basic specs.

Modified original brackets and hinge, heavily cut down; basically holds the exterior panel and locates the lamp brackets. Two staggered Hella 90mm Premier lamp brackets with matching Hella adjusters modded into the original lamp clips.

Lamps (including the fogs, not shown) are Speaker Lighting Corp Model 90 Prismatic LED projector headlights. These things are top of the line on the market right now. When all 6 lamps are on (lows stay on with high), they are pulling less than 8 amps collectively and produce over 150,000 candella. The picture s are a bit deceiving, as they have almost Zero light scatter, the beam is super precise.

Lamps are moved by a set of 4in Linear Robotic actuators (which are somewhat loud and slow:2-2.5 sec motion), moving a set of heavy duty throttle bell-cranks, and some light tie-rods. Actuation was a bit of trial and error, but worked out rather quickly.

The rattle can paint is turning out good as well.

Fully shut with pins

Open on prop springs

Up without lights is still operational

Without trim piece

They look look super bright, but its the camera. Unless your in the beam, they are hardly noticeable.

They produce a very clean white light, almost sort of silver.

Linkage

Motor

Can barely see them

Much cleaner than the factory setup, but not nearly as strong. They factory system was designed to be able to break through ice buildup

Yeah the factory setup is built really solid. I like your take on it though. Love seeing people do different things to these cars Shame the actuation is so slow but nicely done either way though.

I would have preferred to have the lights sit higher so they don't come up as high, but space was very limited.

I wonder if it would be possible to have an actuator that sits vertical and pulls/pushes the light? This way the actuator could be outside the engine bay. The light would just need a single pivot. This could also be used to control how "open" the light is.

YES, there is space for this, but you would need motors with adjustable limit switches ($$$$).
THese motors were about $60. I got them from online from Robotshop.com
