Tweeter Location and larger kickplate speakers
Form v function… above the dash or below?
Mostly OEM / survivor FB. Both options using reversible mounting so could return to original state later if wanted.
And for those looking at how to mount a larger speaker to the kickplate, found these 6.5” Morels with 1/2” depth. Very well reviewed, seem to solve the problem, but spendy.

Below will sound terrible, while on the a-pillars will sound great.
Also, I saw a guy here who bought a-pillar covers, saved the old ones, custom installed tweets and cloth wrapped to match. Looked great.
OK, I searched for it! It's all in his build thread and answers some of your other questions

Ha! I was looking for that exact thread and could not find it. I remembered the custom a pillar mounts. Thought it was in an Aus forum, so was looking in the wrong place.

Definitely separates. It was debatable when the visual impact of the cone shaped pods was an issue. Now they are in the A pillars it’s a no brainer.
I ended up with Kicker tweeter as couldn’t face the budget of Morel tweeter and splitters. Just bought a GSL disc/limited rear axle so feeling poor. The kickplate speakers I could mentally justify cause nothing out there is as shallow as the Morels. Wish I had adjustability with the Kickers, but it’s a small complaint and the sound is excellent. And for full disclosure, no rear speakers and a powered subwoofer hidden in front of the drivers side rear light.
You installing yourself? If so 1/4” mdf worked well. Used the existing kick panels as templates and covered with OReilly fabric. Kilmat on the metal body panel and inside existing speaker holes. Passenger side fitted no problem. Drivers side is real tight due to main wiring loom passing behind panel anz making sure there is clearance between speaker grill and dead panel. Locate your speaker hole carefully!
