Radio + speaker install

Glorious mazda speakers:

I removed the factory fronts + amplifier, and my new speakers wouldn't fit inside it, so i ended up making a mounting plate. It's extremely ugly and unpolished, but i don't care because its not visible.

Cut to fit speaker hole

Front view of the speaker

i should have taken better pictures of the rear install, basically i removed all of the original hardware, and placed the alpine mounts overtop.

i have a 200watt amp inside the storage bin powering my rears + tweeters

Unfortunately the new speakers don't clear the mazda grills, so i had to cut the plastic rivets out

Removed the coat hangers and put tweeters in place

Crutchfield wiring harness, you only need half of it for aftermarket radios, but its nice.

The guy who had this car before me did a real hack job on the wires, but i guess in 1987 you really didn't have a choice.

Headunit: clarion VX400 W/ Nav (not pictured)

If i had the space i would have bought an alpine unit, but they have brains and it just wouldn't fit anywhere.

I don't have this thing permanently mounted yet, but here is the basic mock up.
i need to adjust the height still, i'm currently working on a custom bracket, at the moment it is being held in with a spacer on the bottom, and a rubber foam stick tape to keep it secure from movement.
