Turbo to streetport exhuast?!?

So I am on the quest of turboing my 12a. I couldn't find any info on this so I will ask.

I recently bought the racing beat streetport exhaust system, and I was wondering if it is possible to go from a t2 turbo to downpipe, split with the racing beat Unflanged Collector Assembly, tig weld a flange on there and bolt that sucker on.

It seems that it would not be that hard to fab up but at the same time I don't know if it would work very well or not. I doubt anyone has experience with this but give me some opinions!!! Thanks.

If your gonna use a TII turbo(Hitachi T-18) then just sell your header and buy a RB TII downpipe to connect to your system. The 3" is only a little over 100 bucks from Mazdatrix and its trick, super light/thin stainless steel. You can split after the flange to connect to your dual system,or better yet, simplify and run a full 3" single system like I did and ditch the heavy RB setup(sell it)

On my first setup I did what you're trying to do. Downpipe to street port exh. It'll work but it's restrictive. Better to go 3" all the way back.

So that is it? I just dished out a lot of cash people...I want to keep it. Anyway, by restrictive does that mean that big of a loss, or just enough to notice? Also what was the noise level like, loud or can't hear it quiet? I don't really mind the extra 10-15 lbs of metal if I can save a few hundred bucks (on a budget).

I dont remember the exact figures, but it goes something like,"One 3" pipe will outflow two 2.25" pipes."
Basically, with a turbo your better off power-wise with a single 3" system. Its lighter and flows more. The SP muffler can be retained, itll be very quiet and not too restrictive.Ive run mine for years with 14psi going into my streetported 13BT.It flows and muffles just fine. Its stealthy quiet at cruise, but gets "whooshy" loud at the top, with no buzz or metallic ring.Any straight through muffler besides the RB will be loud, even with a turbo and catylist mine is very loud with a different muffler on.
I took my RB streetport muffler and cut off the inlet, welding a 3" flange to the front and bolting it up to my 3" mandrel bent stainless system.

As far as wasting money, heh, those are the breaks when you want to go turbo. Its a totally different beast with different needs.Almost all your previous mods will be useless or at best, not optimal when you convert to turbo.I went through the same thing with my "new" RB single system.
