Turbo II swap into 13b
Hello everyone.
Let me explain my situation.
I have an fb, 85.
I had to take my 12a out because an apex blew, go figure.
Yesterday, I bought an s4 turbo II engine.
What I want to know, is what type of flywheel and counter weight do I need to use? Turbo flywheel and s4 counterweight?
Thanks.
TITLE SHOULD BE TII INTO FB***
excuse my retardedness

This will depend on what gearbox you're going to use. Basicly, any rotary mazda box can be swapped for the other, but obviously, a TII box would be highly recommendable. Your FB box, after all, wasn't build for the power of the FC TII engine.
If you keep the original box (FB) you'd need a lightweight flywheel and counterweight from a TII (S4) automatic box. The counterweights from manual ones are one piece with the flywheel, so you can't use that one.
If you use a box from a S4 TII, you can use the stock TII flywheel (counterweight) is "molded" into that one) and clutch, but will have to fabricate a mounting for the box (fairly easy) and have a custom made drive shaft (less easy...)
By using a FB box and lightweight flywheel you're able to avoid costs for the drive shaft, but you're probable going to blow the box fairly soon.

All you need is a S4 n/a stock flywheel. Get a street/strip clutch at the same time. Make sure you are correct on whether it is s4 or s5.....and as for blowing the box, my gslse stock tranny has been behind my blown 13b for 4 years, and another friend ran his behind his blown 12a for 4 years. The tranny will hold up if you are not doing a lot of high rpm clutch drops, using slicks, or power shifting a lot. If you're doing any of the 3 (especially slicks and clutch drops) then you need the TII tranny.....
