We've been over this a little bit.
From a suspension dynamics point of view, the 2nd gen suspension is, in one word... notsogood.
You are much better off upgrading your solid axle. There has been talk about a miata rear end as well. One person is doing it, but hell, why not be the first to get it on the road?

From what I recall about this, and the Miata rear end, major fabrication has to be done to get the IRS to fit. I think the unibody has to be cut/welded because the arch where the solid axle is, will not work with the 2nd gen, or miata rear end.
