I am about to put new Plugs, wires and Distributer!!!
I am also thinkin of changing the Fuel filter,as I read somewhere that Back fire on downshift may be cleared up with a new Fuel filter????

Now also is there 2 fuel filter's, I hear that one is in the tank!!! how important is the changing of both????Or can I just change One??????????

Sorry but just 1 filter, Use the Mazda OEM ones as we had problems with teh aftermarket ones leaking...... Why change the distributor? it should be ok just change the cap & rotor..................... A back fire is usually from a leak in the exhaust allowing for fresh air to come in, check the gaskets or see if you can see any leaks........Oh and use NGK Plugs they work the best............................
