Question Trying to get my 85 to start!

Okay, I tried to charge a battery while jumping it but a whisp of smoke came from my fusible link. The center lead is broken in half. But I just spliced it back together. But right now I have a fully charged battery and lite headlights (which will now not retract down) but no dummy lights and not the slightest sign of a turn, when I switch on the ignition. BTW when replacing the fusible link do those 3 wires come out of the link's housing or does the whole thing wires and all need to be replaced ? Any help would be most appreciated. The car has been sitting for 2 years. I looked under the car and cannot see any wire damage. HELP!
Plus I put a brand new ignition switch in the year before I put it to sleep.

Go down to autozone and get new fuses. Search for "fusible links" here or in the archives, it will tell you what to get.

after that check the main engine fuse under the dash. after that maually enguage the starter using a screwdriver. Ever do that before? you have the key in the ON positoin, touch the end of the screwdriver on the main terminal of the starter (big black cable going to the battery to it) and tap the Positive side of the starter relay. If the starter cranks then its gotta be under the dash..
