Tranny won't go back in..HELP!!

It is really easy to damage the splines that way. I did the same thing and had to file the back to normal. Congratulations, glad you got it fixed.

Congratulations on getting the tranny back on. I popped my "compression test" tranny on and off of engines out of the car several times to do compression tests with no issue. I didn't even realize it was supposed to be hard. Then and friend of mine and I swapped trannies in my FB. We encountered the same problem..didn't want to go in. We tried for 30 minutes, gave up and had something to eat, went back out and it slid right on. It was definitely a precision-fit issue...it had to be angled perfectly to get in.

A couple of weeks ago, when we were installing the tranny onto my 13Bpp outside of the car, it fought us, screaming "NO, NO, NO!". Until we got the angle just right and it just said "OK" and slide right on.
