i juss baught a tranny online from a private party. according to him the tranny has low miles and all gears work great. when i recieved to tranny it looked like it was sitting out side for a long time. 1st and 2nd gears shifted in but 3rd, 4th, 5th, and reverse doest not shift at all. the shifter wont even slide to the right to move into 5th and reverse.

i emailed the guy back saying i want my money back for my tranny but he juss made fun of me saying that the tranny he sent worked fine and it shifted into all five gears. he thinks im trying to send him some broken tranny and keep the tranny he sent so i can have my money back.

did i juss get fcked over or do u guys think its a minor, fixable problem caused by rough shipping.

well yes you did get fcked but i doubt it was done by merely shipping it...no matter how far it went...some quetions to ask...how long did it take to ship? where did it come from...and if the guy is making fun of you instead of saying sorry thats too bad...you can bet he a)doesnt care and b) planned on it. im not sure whether or not its fixable but im willing to bet you could. i say find the guy and beat him with the shift ****!

Did you put the tranny in the car yet...?

Take the 3 bolts off that hold in the shifter and take it out. Look inside and make sure nothing is jammed. Theres a wire/spring that holds the shifter in place and if it gets out of wack it could jam things up.
Not being able to shift into 3rd, 4th, 5th, and reverse seems odd. I mean... mabey it could happen, but I've blown 3 trannies and each one wouldn't go into only one specific gear each time.

 

85TIIDevil is right, sounds like something is jammed up. I had a Pontiac Fiero once, and I used to put loose change in the ashtray since I didn't smoke. There was an ashtray on each side of the stick and some quarters slipped under the boot and into the shift forks. I was sitting at a red light on a hill at an intersection when the stick wouldn't go left into 1st or 2nd.
As far as the guy saying you are trying to send him a different tranny, he should have recorded the serial # or something, but his excuse sounded too pre-programmed. Sounds like he sent you a bad tranny and already had his excuse planned out. Don't worry about him, God will punish him. Make the best of a bad situation. You got a good candidate for a tranny rebuild project if you don't find anything jamming the shift forks.
