tranny identification

I'm beginning to suspect that my 5-spd tranny in my '83 GSL may not be original... Is there any way to tell? Are there some casting numbers I could find or something?

There's a sticker on the bell housing with some numbers on it. I'm not sure if that's it or not, but it may get you somewhere.

Check to see if there is grease pencil markings on the tranny. That is usually a sign of a replaced tranny/bellhousing.
