Question Tranny Identification ?????

I pulled the 5 speed out of my GSL-SE to swap with the 5 speed out of my GS. Both are 84's. I am a little nervous about wether or not it is actually the original tranny from the SE. I can tell it has been previously messed with because some lazy dumbass didn't want to go a hardware and get the right metric screw so he forced a course thread into the plate on the shifter. How can I figure out if it is the original SE tranny? The numbers on the side of the tranny ? Also wondering if I can just swap the shifter from my GS to the SE ?

They'll swap.

The GSL-SE tranny will have an inspection hole or something on the bellhousing. The 12A will not.
