Tranny or Clutch Gone?

Hey i have a 1982 rx7 with a 12a engine...its a manual 5 speed and i started with a really loud rattling noise under the car...then it got worse and worse...when suddenly last night i was putting the car in reverse when i heard the tranny i think drop from the car.....i got out to check it and i didnt notice anything from underneath but when i started to drive the car it was so loud i couldnt even drown it out with my stereo.....my car changes gears just fine...and it drives fine but the noise is unbearable and im afraid of driving it at the moment....

if anyone can help me troubleshoot this without taking it to a mechanic and paying out the *** in labor just for some guy to tell me i dropped the tranny....and if anyone can help me out with getting a new tranny and im thinking of getting a turbo 2 tranny b/c im going to be buying a 13b engine and with that engine i really think that i would need the turbo tranny...thanks

Is there any change in pedal pressure? Does the sound go away when you depress the clutch, is it louder the faster you drive? rx7doctor

Your tranny is out of fluid. Mine did the same thing. It holds about 1.5-1.75 quarts of fluid so it doesnt take long with a leak and it is empty. If you have a "supercharger" sound going on it is definiately the fact that the fluid is low/empty.
