Tranmissions?

Alright, so I just bought a shitload of parts 'cause I wrecked my car, and just after we get them all put on, my grandpa drives the car and gets the tranny hung in 4th.

So, I'm in debt now. I have NO car to drive. I need to know how much you guys think a replacement would run me. Is it possible to maybe just replace the gears that got fucked up? Should I part out the car and buy a Ford Escort?

The tranny has been in the car for about 200,000 miles (the engine and pretty much everything else has been rebuilt and kept up) After I had driven it for a bit, me and my parents realised that 4th and 5th gear whined, so we kinda knew it was coming.

And I really wanna know why my grandpa even put it in 4th. He shouldn't have had to if he was just driving it back to his garage. God damnit.

tranny

Im no expert...

But from what ive heard the trannys in the rex are pretty stout?

also hearsay, but... on the side of the tranny, where the linkage is there is a small plastic sleeve, if that cracks or gets broken.. it'll hang you up.

once again I am certainly no expert on this subject!

Good luck

There is no linkage on the side of the tranny. The linkages are internal.

The shifter bushing could be bad and somehow hang up the shifter. Remove the shifter and check.

If the tranny in indeed bad you can get a used one cheaper than a build. maybe cheaper than just the parts for a rebuild. try the local wrecking yard. I am sure someone here has a used tranny they will sell ya cheap. if not I have two that have bearing noise but are still working.

let me know and good luck
