Trailing Ignition Problems

I was driving home one night a couple of months ago and out of nowhere, my tach went berserk on me and my car quit. I ended up having to rewire the breaker and the wires to the fuel pump, but my tach wouldnt work. I tested for spark from the trailing ignitor and nothing. So i moved the tach to the leading, and it worked. I went out and bought a new coil for the trailing ignition, installed it, and still nothing... whats up?

Any similar experiences? Any ideas?

Ignitor? Isnt that the same as the coil? or is it somewhere else?

Dose the positive 12v going to the coil come straight from the battery off the positive terminal on the starter, like most cars?

the positive comes from the main relay, which in turn comes from the battery.

Stock ones work fine. If you want to upgrade your ignition, look in the FAQs for Jeff20B's dldfis upgrade, Since it sounds like you have a toasted ignitor, you can gut it for the mod. You will need to pick up a good one, along with another coil. ReSpeed sells a bracket that hold 3 coils.

only my trailing ignitor is toasted... i need 3 for the mod? What about the 6a method? I was looking around and ignitors are about the cost of an entire MSD set-up for me. LOL!
