i want to remove my rats nest so i dont have to worry about vacuum leaks and so eats easier to work in that area but id like to keep the air pump and acv so the emissions arent horrible - any thoughts?

oh yea when i said "keep" the acv i meant get a new one because the person who had it before me took it off and disconnected the air pump. some of you will think im retarded for not just leaving it off but my 7 is my daily driver and my only car and you never know when emissions testing may pop up.

Just block off the ACV, but leave the airpump hooked up DIRECTLY to the exhaust so all the air goes straight there...THe more air in the exhaust, the better. Thats what i have done and it passes everytime

Yeah, I'm gonna be doing the same thing, as soon as safety is passed, I'm gonna get the ricer-blue hoses from mazdatrix and be doing the rat's nest removal, but I have to run with air pump and ACV in because I have cats that I don't wanna get too clogged before I can afford an RB exhaust. I don't wanna straightpipe because of the noise and the possibilty of moving to Ontario where they have e-tests.

THis is for an -SE.... THere is a tube from the exhaust to the acutators to activate them which since i have no backpressure is usless...I hooked up this tube directly to the airpump, so instead of gas pressure going into my Actuators, LOTS of air is going from the air pump to the exhaust which according to the people at Emissions station works very well..The more fresh air in the exhaust the better.

If you have a non -se not sure how the exhaust system is exactly, but you could add a tube from the airpump and drill a hole into your exhaust system and put the tube there so it sends in fresh air.

i ripped of my rats nest yesterday cause it was pissin me off lol. today i got some more vac lines and hooked the purge valve and dizzy vac adv back up so it runs now....but i dont think i have that hose your talking about so i would have to drill into my exhaust like you said but...do all 7s have the thermal reactor? because i cant tell if its just an exhaust manifold or a thermal reactor...also when i drill...any tips as to get the best results such as where to drill, etc?

Really it shouldn't matter where the air goes in as long as it is before the cat. In my case, its right after the header.
