too much oil !!

yikes...I bought a gsl-se and when I got it home, I saw the the previous owner had 1-2 quarts too much oil in it...what effect will that have on the car?? I have since changed the oil to right level. I was getting a lot of smoke on start up ( much more than normal) ..do you think this "too much oil" was the cause?? any thoughts???? thxs...cjf

It seems that when my SE gets its oil slightly overfilled it tends to seep into the combustion chamber while the car is parked. When you fire it up, you get a couple seconds of smoke.

It causes drag on the motor, but it's difficult for this type of thing to do damage to parts.

hmm wouldnt that actually be better for the engine, heh, better lubrication when you start it up :P although I guess you wouldnt want it to be so full that there was constant oil seeping in whilst its running, slowing it down.
