Depends on what size wheels you have, as to what brands of tires are available. I run 15x7's with Falken Ziex ZE-502's. Damn good tires, but discontinued. I plan to go with Kumho when the time comes to replace the Falkens. Even with over 11K and several track days/auto-x's on them, they still have <50% tread left.

15" rims, I'm currently running the Kumho Ecsta 711's....dirt cheap and 85% of the performance capability of the Bridgestone Pole Position S-O3, which is my favored all-around hi-po tire.

Big plus is when the 711's wear down...the shoulders go block-like and the cornering and turn-in ability becomes phenomenal for the last month you can use the tire before the cords start getting exposed...at that point, you've got about three more weeks of fun but you can't trust it over any road debris...

I've got Falken Ziex ZE-512's on my FB. Haven't put many miles on them, but so far I like'em!

I've heard the 711 are greasy... guess it depends.

I run stock size Sumitimos HTR200's on my -SE rims... IMO great tire for the money, good tire period.

On my 16's I Kuhmo 712's again suprised with the traction on these. When I had my V8 in the car they held the power well and cornering was never questionable at "safe LOL" public road speeds.

I have Falken Azenis Sport Rt-215. I love them, not that much noise at all, tread wear is a little low-200, but that's what you get for a close to R compound tire. If I am not mistaken, they stoped making these type of tires, had a replacement.

When I get my 15x7 wheels- I'll be wrappin' them in some extreme summer performance rubber! http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=2

Can't beat the price at $75 each!!! They did very well against the competition too.

The Yokohama advan a048 is great, they are the stickiest tire i ever drove on.... Don't recommend it for the street tho, they stick to every little dirt on the road... Haven't driven in the rain with it either, don't want to try...

I have been trying to decide between the MX and the SPT from Kumho......
Better grip, or better treadlife.......

712 is different from the discontinued 711, which is why they are such a deal from the Tire Rack. With full tread, I can see that statement standing up...after about a month or so, it doesn't seem as true anymore....when the shoulders wear to a block angle, it definitely isn't true....from a current C&D ad from the Tire Rack...
  • 215/55VR-15.......$54
  • 225/50HR-15.......$53
  • 205/50HR-15.......$47

Any new tire will be a little "Greasy" feeling, until the mold release agent in the tread is worn off. This can take anywhere from 500 -1500 miles.
This is part of the reason competition tires should be heat-cycled prior to running on them.

I have ordered some 205/45 R-16 BFG g-force sports from Discount Tire Direct we will see how they run. I like the tread design.
