Are strut assemblies side specific?

Ok.. I know Im probably gonna get razzed about this, but when I went to put my struts back on I noticed that oddly (since I marked all the pieces) the markings on the brakes and control arms didnt match the marks on the body. It was easy to figure out where the controll arms, steering knuckles, and brakes go. But when it came to the strut assemblies I smacked myself in the forehead. I think this is where I messed up the markings initially, and I have no idea how to distinguish which one goes where.

As far as I can tell they are the both the same, but a little reassurance would be good.
Nothing like sharing stupid mistakes with the forum lol.

its not a mistake, lol. trial and error. another good way to tell is to look at the part numbers. if they match, they're not side specific. also, you can even look on a webiste that sells the part or parts to determine what side is which, even with different parts as well.

1st gens no, 2nd gens yes, due to the brake line mounting on the strut tube.
