Welcome to the Darkside. Believe it or not, but Tirerack.com and discounttiredirect.com provide the ability to tell you what the tire sizes should be.

You didn't say what trim level your car was: GS, GSL, GSL-SE.

If your car is not a GSL-SE, 205/50R15's should do the trick.

If it IS a GSL-SE, TireRack says that 205/55R15's will work. However, Discount Tire Direct says: 185/65R15, 195/65R15, 205/60R15.

Wait a minute. I used to work in tires and the one thing I was always told was to pay mind to the Plus 1, Plus 2, etc tire sizes to maintain proper ratio to ensure your speedometer reads correctly.

However, two members mentioned sizes not listed from TireRack and Discount Tire Direct. Does ya'lls speedometer still read correctly?

I'm running 185's on the stock X wheels, and they fit the wheel pefectly, so anything short of 205 wouldn't be using the wheel to it's full potential.

Could you define "little" please? I just checked the discounttire website and they said that my 7 needs a 13" on my car, to which I respond, HELL NO!

Thanks

Did you also check their Plus Sizes? They will list how much bigger you can go to keep the speedometer in check.

Well the "Little" rub is only achieved with a full tank of car and very bad NC roads. I have rolled the inner fenders slightly. nothing a Louisville slugger cant handle. the tires never got terribly cut.

the Muffler during that picture was removed to **** off neighbors. . . and shoot more flames but enough of that.

also the Fronts are 205/50R15s

I wouldn't go less than a 215/50, preferably a 225/50. Whether they will rub or not is going to depend on your offset/backspace. One can run wider tires in the rear usually without much problem.

What's the backspace on your wheels? Lowering will make a difference clearance to. My Epsilons cleared with stock springs that hadn't sagged down, they didn't clear with lowering springs. Fronts were 225/50/15 on 7" rims, rears were 245/50/15 on 9" rims. Speedometer is off too. When I was stopped for doing 87 in a 75, I had the speedo steady at 78/79 mph.

For more clearance and a more accurate speedo reading, you might concider going to 40 or 45 profile tire.

sorry , thread hijack)

for my 1979 SA, I just bought some konig rewinds , 15 x 7 + 25 offset (i think or +20)

Anyone know if 205 / 60 x 15 will fit all around with no rub (I can get a set of these yokohama avids free)

offset

markusj08
My calculations indicate that 13mm would be ideal on a SA which has 25mm on the stock waffle wheels or on the "keyhole" wheels. (the 215/50-13 BF Goodrich R1's fit fine on the stock 13x5.5 wheels)
I just picked up my set of Konig Rewinds in 20 mm offset from .
It looks like the Respeed coilovers will gain about a half inch more clearance to the strut. I am hoping that the 5 mm less offset than stock combined with the Kmac caster camber plates so I can run 1.5 degrees of negative camber I will be able to run 225/50-15 tires and clear both the strut and the fender lip. (the lip may need to have the flange flattened). An FB may be able to run the 20mm offset without modification with 205's, but I do not know if 225's will fit. I will follow up with a recap and pictures after I have the tires mounted. By the way, you might want to contact Hikaru at JLB in Corona, CA 951-734-4411 http://www.jlbmotorsports.com/ if you are interested in the Rewinds.
