Tire shopping!

I'm shopping for replacement tires for my 85 GS on stock 13" rims, as the old Yokohamas are starting to dry rot on the side walls. It seems the selection is much more limited than the last time I shopped for tires. Anybody have experience with these Achilles Platinum tires? PLATINUM UTQG 420-AA-A
I've never heard of them but they are the only H rated tires I can find that will fit these rims. The reviews seem good, but limited in number... Any input would be greatly appreciated.
THanks!
JOE

Also, anybody try these NANKANG 205/60R13 86H? Nankang XR611 | Nankang
Same speed rating as the Achilles, but its a wider tire. What about fitment on the stock rim, any trouble fitting a 205 on there? I've never tried it.

You shouldn't have trouble with a 205/60.

I'd like to try Federal SS595, but they were backordered every where back in April. A few Miata racers at a local track really like them.

I've run 205/60x13 for years on the stock waffles with no other suspension changes and no
problems with rubbing or anything. Thats the max width in the front that will work as the springs
will hit a 215 width tire.

You won't find any decent performance tires in this size unless you go to an RDOT tire like a
Hoosier or Toyo in that size.

Got my chinese 205's thru eBay recently. 2 for about $170 delivered. retiring my now-Unobtainium Sumi 205s. yeah, not going to tear up any tracks with them but hoping they are enjoyable for street duty.

Look up a local legends race care dealer in your area snd ask if they can order you 205/60-13 federal 595. I had two sets of these, $400 a set. Awesome for grip, terrible for tread wear. Super soft tire, super fun tire

I'm having trouble finding 205/60/14 for the stock se. Only ones so far are federals, Achilles and banking. Federals I've read are loud on the highway. Any suggestions for a good street tire?

Welcome to 1st gen hell. Try getting 13in tires of any quality and forget performance street tires. I
just got 15in rims for this reason. At least the SE bolt pattern lends itself to better wheel selection.
