make sure the lugs nuts are tight, check to see if any suspension parts are loose, could be a cracked rotor (even tho that doesnt happen often on street cars), it could be 1000 things, that just too vague.

Definetly check the lug nuts! Check the suspension and have someone push down on the front end while you look. Check the struts and stuff and watch them move and see if they are ok. You can jack the car up and shake the wheel and see if the bearing or ball joints and stuff are loose.

Do you have aftermarket springs or wheels?

jack up the front of the car and spin the wheel. if you hear the sound, its probably wheel/rotor/bearing related. if you dont hear the sound, its probably suspension related since at the moment there would be no pressure on the suspension. thats what i would try.

Well, common sense tells me to bend down near that tire and take a look around. Can't really help you much without physically being there.

Does the symptom occur when you're turning left? Driving straight? Parked at a drive in?

Are you applying brakes and hear a clunk? Or is it a general rubbing sound that gets louder or higher in pitch as you go faster?

could be a warped or scored brake rotor / worn pads

Wheel bearing, perhaps? Could be your caliper hanging up a bit, too.

You have no choice but to buy an entire new RX-7 and park that one...

your suspension is out of alignment or you're using the wrong size rims/tires

it might, or it might not, depending what's out of alignment. I've actually seen cars (okay, Chryslers) with loose bolts in the front crossmember! You may have touched a curb and bent a strut or something. If a rod is bent and you change your springs, the problem will still be there.

Sorry, been busy dispensing lawful manners in TX... Do you have discs in the rear? The thunk is loose calipers or pieces missing (ie., not installed when put back together...) when you hear that sound from the front....not too sure what it could be in the rear if you don't have discs...get a buddy to lie back there for a quick session and see if he/she can narrow down the location...someone could probably answer correctly with that info on hand...

Do you do any kind of racing or autox with this vehicle? If not, if it's just a daily driver that sees occasional hard street use, get a wheel spacer kit to move your rim out 1/4" from the struts or springs. You'll probably have to roll the fenderwell lips to stop any rubbing there if the car is lowered, but that's your cheapest fix...
