i've never heard of the tint being a stock/dealer option. so i'm gonna go with no, it is not stock.

For the most part, even if tint is a dealer option it is still considered illegal (depending on state and province). When tint is done you usually have a disclaimer saying this tint is illegal and we are not responsible for anything.

Thats assuming the tint is on the front windows. If its on the back i would get a second opinion, again dependant on state laws.

Factory windows have a light tint that's legal in all 50 states. Aftermarket tints will usually have a gap at the top of the door windows so the tint doesn't peel back from the track felt when the window is rolled up. Tint laws vary from state to state. When I had my 2nd gen legally tinted in CO, it was also legal in MO. Since they amended the tint laws, I'm no longer legal here in MO.

If the tint is part of the factory glass, it's legal everywhere.

Plastic tinting film didn't exist at the time the SA's were made.

Most posters here (Trochiod excepted heh) are not old enough to recall when cars normally came with clear glass side windows, and "tinted glass" was an extra-price option.

Tinted glass is pretty much standard now.

Try another inspection station, when I lived in San Antonio, everyone had tinted windows.

Maybe ask a buddy who has tinted windows where he got his car inspected.
