Anyone want a different look to their tail-lights but think clear ones look gay? Here's what tinted ones look like. And please, no flames about my massive "wing".

It's a black tint and the brightness is still more than acceptable.

reminds me of how the new mustang gt headlights are smoked a little. not bad at all if the tint looks bad i would do that rather than takin it out.

I've got mine tinted. I used some stuff called Nite Shades. It's a spray on tint. I used to see it in parts stores, but I think I got it from Summit.

 

Does that work on windows? *dumb question, but it's worth a try*....

 

Those actually look pretty nice! Definitely a lot nicer than the clear ones, which I personally hate. I think it would depend on the color of your car, on white it certainly looks good.

I think you should tint your back hatch for the finishing touch.

You don't want to **** around with do-it-yourself window tints. In the rare case they might look good at first (if you somehow manage to do it well), but in the long run that stuff is crap.

Seriously, get your car tinted by a professional, and get it done right. It's worth it if you want your car to look nice for a long time.

 

If I remember right, it was only for plastic lens. As was stated before, if you want to do your windows and you don't know how to do it, take it to a tint shop. I have tinted many windows and it is a royal pain on some vehicles. My last car, I took to a shop and didn't worry about the hassle.

 

i did mine as well. it appears mine aren't as dark. the little reflectors show well through the tint and the brightness is quite adequate.

i used nite shades. got it at the local rice shop. it was on special, apparently smoking the tails isn't trendy anymore; the altezzas are >

 

Mine already are like that. But I have the wall-to-wall US style lights instead of the euro-style licence plate and bumper. It's not really a light, just a glued-on plastic thing.

 

Actually, does anyone know a good solvent to use to remove the sticky mess that's left over after old tinit is removed? That glue has to be the most annoying crap to get off....

 

i tried acetone, but it left an even stickier mess, so i went at it with a razor blade. That worked well.

 

I think my hatch has been tinted because when you look at it at a certain angle you see kind of a "checker board" pattern.

 

Winnepeg, I bet you're seeing the internal stresses in the glass. If it's more noticeable with polarized sunglasses, then that's it.

Cool. Ever seen a 1st gen with 3rd gen lights? I saw one yesterday. Really nice but the expense was alot.

 

Lol, it's factory tinting. It was standard on all 1st gens I beleive. It's not the usual "stick-on" type tinting though... the glass itself has actualy been treated with somekind of crap.

Hey, what kind of adhesive/hot glue do you guys use to put the lenses back on? I bought brand new lenses but, I'm getting moisture into the lenses when I wash the car.

Both, tint is actually a polarization filter, either sprayed on, or stuck on. Same consept as sunglasses.
