Timing issues at 4k rpm

Hi I’m new to the forums, I’m having trouble timing my distributor after installing a new Weber 45 dcoe. it seems like everyone is saying different things on timing. At 4k rpms under load my car starts sputtering and won’t let me go past that… in natural it will rev all the way up. I’m not sure if it’s carb or timing or how I got my vacuum lines set up? About my vacuum lines one is running from ported vacuum and the other is running from manifold. please help

it is usually a combination of too much fuel and weak spark. most folks go with MSD ignition and try to tune the carbs a little leaner. it's tricky with rotaries to get other carbs dialed in without any kind of monitoring tools(wideband AFR gauge) to see where you're at.

conversely the other could be true, you may be running severely lean up top, the plugs color should give you a hint.

I wouldn't mess with timing until you get the DCOE dialed in. You can't just install a carb out of t he box and expect it to work. We need details on the carb setup; where did you get it, what jets, fuel psi and flow etc.

I used the ones Mazda trix recommended for Jetting - 65 f9 idle, 190 main jet, 200 air jet, f11 tubes
fuel psi set to 3
