I notice you're leaning more towards 15" than 16", I would just get the lightest ones, I know my 18lb 16"s and bigger tires slowed my car down-temporarily anyway

Speaking About Rim. Can You Put A 1st Generation Rim From A 2nd Generation. I Know That The Gsl-se Will Fir 2nd But I Have An 84 Gs. So I Can Put A 2nd Generation On My 84? Also While Im Aksing. Can You Adjust The Clutch?

 

If you look at the bolt patterns offered, they don't have anything for a GSL-SE anyway.

Bang for the buck, the Konigs are hard to beat -- light and cheap. I also like Team Dynamics Pro Race 1 --> http://www.rimstock.co.uk/rimstockframeset.htm I've had Panasports. They look nice & they're durable, but they're expensive and heavy (unless you get the lights, which aren't recommended for highway use).

 

No a 2nd gen 4 lug wheel will not fit on a 84 GS, the lug pattern is different.

 

I will get weld racing rims myself...

?????Am I to understand that the 84 - 85 GSL-SE has a different bolt pattern than the earlier models????? I was under the impression that all 1st gen's were the same!!!! This is awesome news.

 

Yeah dblboinger, the SE has 4x114.5 (4x4.5") bolt pattern offset 40 mm, whereas the 12A models have 4x110 bolt pattern.

 

Panasports are classic 7, but if you are going new style make sure you have a nice chrome lip and the car will really show nice.

After much thought I decided to just get some new tires and stick with the stock rims. Biggest factor was I didn't want to spend an extra $450 to get new wheels--Christmas is right around the corner and lets face it, I'll never get back the investment for the rims. The stock ones aren't great looking but they aren't too bad either. At 13 lbs the stock wheels are pretty light compared to the selection of rims. I got all four tires installed for $320 with all the extras.

Other considerations: The Tenso's in 15" are no longer available (surprise)--I really liked the look of them and may have been swayed enough to buy them. The Enkei's are nice (the poll winner!) but the silver version of the DM-5 is still a little too grey looking for me, otherwise they aren't bad. Motegi's are also decent, but I'm not sure I wanted that look. The MB's look great but are just way too heavy and there is no way I want that kind of performance penalty.

Another thing I noted is the FB brake calipers are really nothing special too look at--so seeing them thru the wheel isn't all that appealing like on some cars.

Also, good 14" tires in our size are getting harder to come by. Slowly but surely the wheel/tire selection for the FB is evaporating--although I expect something will always be available.

I'm in the same boat as you... I'm looking for something different but not sure if I want to buy a new set of rims to get there. I'd like to upgrade the front brakes to something a lot bigger and that means it's time for new rims but I don't know if I want to spend the $ and I'm having a hard time finding something that I like. Choices choices...

 

I think the Tenzo's look the best out of your selection.

Those are the first 17s I've seen that don't look way too big for the car That thing would look sick with ground effects.

 

I'm with ya on that Mills, they don't look bad at all. Maybe because it's silver on silver? Not a bad looking car but I'm sure it's still not as clean as yours! Could eat off any part of your damn car...
