78/79 (shown) and 80 were the same in this regard, so it may be an SA/FB thing.

When I changed my battery this weekend on my SA I had the negative up front
but the new battery was the otherway around and, boy, those cables switched to
have the positive up front really fit well now It also dawned on me why they put
the rubber cover on the positive, because if the batter is not secured well, it is going
to make contact with the hood and ground out for sure. Its really close to the
hinge on the hood there.
